Used plastic oil drums disposal

Got a large quantity of 5/20/25L oil drums and finding it very difficult to find a recycler/disposal company which take these. Even spoken to Witham oil and they couldn't answer the question. Very frustrating. Only quote I received was for £5 a can which is eye watering. Happy to drain and clean them if necessary, just trying to do the right thing! Definitely considering only purchasing future oil in steel drums to avoid this.

I have some respect for the environment, so not interested before someone suggests about a certain night in a month and a half time....

This bunch might be worth emailing for guidance.

How large is a large quantity, by the way?

Solway Recycling might be worth a call, yes they are in Scotland but they might have a firm local to you. Our waste plastic goes to them through Emerald Isle Recycling here in Northern Ireland.

Plus paperwork to show it was dealt with appropriately.

This is a prime example of unnecessary waste being created by big businesses in particular. They should be forced by the government to take their plastic back and reuse it over and over again. Just the same with plastic milk containers, drinks bottles, pesticide drums and so on. Bound to be cheaper to make use of already made packaging than making more and more. With the exception of food containers, the majority probably don't even need washed or re-labelled every time!

Can you not squash them on some cardboard to get any loose oil and squash them some 250L oil drums ? The volume won’t look so bad, can they not get sent into the spray drum recycling schemes?

In reality can anyone see our government doing anything, I wouldn't leave them in "charge" of a dead battery, they are too busy swanning off to world summit on cutting pollution, bunch of bl--dy idiot's.

Far to simple 200 litre adblue barrels . Adblue for the good of the environment but don’t recycle the containers what a con.

Built up a serious stack of 20l oil containers here, cleaned them out when I needed chain oil and placed them on the end of the drive. Stolen within a day. The 205 litre one come with a deposite payable but few find their way back to the supplier. Had one tied in the shed for the kids to swing on then that got a bit dangerous as they got braver. Converted it to the so called wonky donkey. Hours of fun fir my little ones but a groin strain for me. Guess I’m too old to be showing off.
