I think most of our gas still comes from the North sea. By most I mean largest single supplier.
Correct. Taken from Gov website (will have to trust it!)

''The Great Britain (GB) gas system has delivered securely to date and is expected to continue to function effectively, with a diverse range of supply sources and sufficient delivery capacity to more than meet demand.

While our largest single source of gas supply continues to be the UK Continental Shelf (approximately 48% of total supply in 2020), the maturity of that source means we have to supplement supply from international markets.

Whilst the diversity of those international sources promotes our energy security, by reducing reliance on a particular source, the UK – as with other nations – is exposed to global trends in supply and demand which affect the price of gas traded at UK’s market hub (the National Balancing Point).

We have a wide range of supply sources including direct pipelines across the North Sea from Norway to the UK, our single biggest source of imports. We are also investing millions into scaling up strong renewable energy capacity and driving down demand for fossil fuels.

GB also has a number of gas storage facilities that act as a source of system flexibility when responding to short-run changes in supply and demand.''

It does, pipeline comes south through our farm.

I’ve a cousin who’s an armed response officer in the Met. In the week running up to the 2014 independence referendum he was sent up to the St Fergus terminal on a “training” exercise with an envelope to be opened in the event of a yes vote.

Unbelievable ...............

For the first half of 2021, net earnings attributable to common stockholders were $397 million, or $1.83 per diluted share; EBITDA was $994 million; and adjusted EBITDA was $997 million.

And these figures are for the first half of the year.

CF didn't raise their prices until the release of the new price list in June, at which point they were coining it in on rumours of massive demand and limited supply due to a big Indian order.

Isn't all this chaos an inevitable outcome of environmental naivety, if you suddenly announce to the world that oil has no future & electric is the wonder cure it's hardly a surprise that oil companies stop drilling for new oil finds. As finding new natural gas supplies is a fortunate result of oil exploration it's hardly surprising that gas rich countries like Russia who think power is preferable to eco fads quickly manipulate the gas market to their advantage & are easily able to cripple stupidly underprepared naive countries like the UK. Time to get back into North Sea oil exploration & find more natural gas & delay all these electric wonder vehicles until we have electric security?
and a national grid that can cope with everyone charging their electric vehicles, oops I forgot we all have smart meters so we know what we use or can be switched off from the centre as needed (delete whichever is right!), oh and a supply of rare earths, and somewhere to dispose of the batteries.

It’s one company today.
They have (been allowed to) become big enough that their decisions can shut the country down.

Until they made that decision to stop last week, nobody seemed aware of this potential “threat”.

How do countries that don’t have fertiliser factories source their required CO2?

I can’t quite make head or tail out of all this…
I am surprised terrorists haven't targeted firms that are so important to the country functioning
