Why the need for a login at all?

New Holland/Case, Kuhn, Amazone, Trima, JF/ konskilde/NH, Claas(no part numbers) are ones I have used in the last few months with no login or faffing about.

Some are better than others and on occasion its a pdf of old parts books, but thats fine for me if its an old machine.
Sometimes its just useful to get the exploded diagram.

Edit: just remembered I had to create an account on the Kuhn site and tell them my machines, no dealer involved though.
Yes indeed. Why the secrecy? These are not matters of national security. They are a convenience for customers that have bought their machinery plus the storemen that wouldn't need to guess what was being described, plus there would be less ordering of the wrong parts by the storemen that could then pass the buck for any mistake back to the customer [and probably charge a restocking fee]. It looks like a win/win to me, but what do I know!

As for checking prices, we all do that anyway. This isn't the 1960's and we are all more savvy at getting the best deals these days regardless and describing the part to one retailer is no different to describing it to any other, but the part number makes describing what you want so much easier. I didn't need a parts book to find that the NH skid steer's water pump cost £650 through an official dealer but was sold for £35 in America. Guess where I bought it from, regardless of parts book and number?

I've had login details for a few years and find it really useful. Just asked the local mf storeman and he had it back to me in a few days.

I guess the login is required as you can order the parts yourself for delivery to your local mf dealer.

Is this not something where you could ring the head honcho of AGCO UK or something and get them to fire a rocket up the dealers ass and make them sort their sh!t out..... or does it not work like that?

Sell the red stuff and buy some more SAME's.

I doubt whether many parts are even available for my Same these days. I had a hell of a shock at the price of its exhaust manifold three or four years ago, but at least those were common enough to be available at the time.
Head honchos at AGCO/MF doesn’t deal with the hoi polloi.

Oh well, time for a new dealer then.
I don't think its worth going literally that far. It's just an unnecessary inconvenience where we all know the facility does exist specifically for our convenience and to avoid getting the wrong part. I mean, filters alone are a nightmare these days. We are now approaching the mid-21stC, not still living in the mid 20th. Time, tide and retail, let alone technology, waits for no man.

But you worked for them not so long ago:scratchhead:
Nearly ten years ago since. Time flies.
I certainly don't want to fall out with them about this, especially as it isn't a critical matter to me. I've lived without it until now and I can certainly live without it as my business life winds down. It's not a massive issue but since the facility is there and I'm one of relatively few that know about it and want it, it's quite disappointing that it is such a palaver.
I'll leave it at that. I might have a pleasant surprise or might not. Not a massive dealbreaker. What I really wanted to know was whether anyone was actually able to use the facility or whether it was non-functional. I know now that it is functional for some.

What I can't understand is why it should even need a dealer-supplied log-in. After all, other brands of all kinds just allow anyone internet access to their parts lists at the most basic level. Obviously if ordering on-line, a log-in would be necessary at either the AGCO/Dealer portal or at a specific dealer retail portal, but otherwise its surely unnecessary. Certain other major brands have long provided the facility with no issues, to anyone, straight off their main web site.

Surely some other MF dealer could give you a login and password, its no cost to them and who knows you might be as well getting parts delivered from them.
Even somebody on here who reads this.

We used to get MF parts sent up to us because our local dealer was poor many years ago. I know of a few that still do after the dealerships shuffle in the last while, they for whatever reason don't wish to deal with the current MF agent.

Still can't see why they haven't a view only site, login to order or find out price.

I've tried someone else's login but for some reason it won't let me have access.
No, I can't fathom why AGCO make this a subscription only service either, or why it should be such a to-do to get subscribed. It's not an urgent issue for me because I only currently want it to identify correct filters and seat parts. Done without it for the best part of fifty decades, but still, it's there presumably to be used? By some customers in some areas. :scratchhead:
