I thought that would pull a twin leg mole drainer nicely until I saw what price bletsoes put up that it made

And it won’t pull a twin leg mole drainer either.
Would it not? If I’m honest I’ve no idea how many hp it is but thought it would be a steady pull with plenty of grip for a twin leg

It would depend how deep your going and your soil type. I have a D6d Sa and tried a twin leg on it at 24 inch depth but it was too marginal at pulling it.
The other problem is that a D5 has a big engine on a light gearbox so you would have problems if you used all that power on a hard pull in a low gear persistently.
