Harvesting Spring Beans

Finished mine yesterday, averaged 1.9t/acre, so pretty happy with that especially considering they were in many small fields

Only went about 100 yards in, but the crop didn't seem to want to flow into the header. Only travelling v steady.
Also managed to get unthrashed pods in the sample 🤷‍♂️.
Will need a bit of playing when we get going. 18.7% so will leave a few days and hopefully get some sun on them
Driver faster. If they're tall, slow the reel down and lean it against the crop so they feed feet first, and send her on. It'll feed much better than trying to pull them in with the reel.

Did search through old TFF posts regarding drying beans through an Opico dryer. Search said yes, can be done, but having nearly wrecked mine after 4 batches have decided never again - (bent agitator and sheared intake auger)!

Cannot recall exact year but think it was 1992 a farm I was involved with was harvesting Beans and Linseed on and off through until December. Ended up with above floor lateral stores with heaps of Bean plus plenty of pods and stalk and Linseed bolls general crap. Blew air through winter on and off. Kept walking over the top and two of us used to stir them up with beet fork to break the crust. Beans and Linseed went kind of mouldy. Come longer days in March farm bought a modulating gas burner and managed to dry the beans and Linseed. Then we ran them back through the MG38. Came out an absolutely super sample. Nice and bright - both beans and Linseed. And heaps of crap blown out the back!
