Try taking the filter out and running it without one in. Mine stopped last year for no reason whilst mowing. Had the dealer stumped, took filter out and it never looked back. Ran it like that for rest of the summer (only cutting 200 acre) and put a new one in when it was next serviced. Only thing we could think was the filter was stopping plenty oil getting to the clutch pack.

When working at a farmer we had 2 zuidberg pto gearboxes shiit itself (it was on a small tractor doing very hard work though) and one made a weird noise from new (replaced). When I wanted a pto and hitch for my jd the dealer advised me to not buy a zuidberg pto. He did sell me a new sauter so hey, take that for what it is worth.
However if you need a new one I would advise you to get a sauter, never heard of problems with those.
I did just buy a tractor with zuidberg pto...

We just use rear transmission oil, rebuilt 2 over the years, of the opinion that the soft start up, may help them burning out, depending on the operator.
Found that JD 50 series hi/lo clutch plates fit & seamed slightly thicker, ones that have (clean)oil coolers fit last longer
