Apologies for ignorance but I was looking at a natural gas chart for past prices and it was much higher in the early and late 2000's, so why wasn't fertiliser dearer then?

I see natural gas is 9% higher today.

You also need to consider what the price of ammonia was at the time. Right now, it's well over $200/t and fertiliser companies in Europe are buying it in rather than trying to make their own on expensive gas. Last year ammonia was about $80/tonne, so it's not just the gas. Freight rates are higher too for vessels.

Absolutely peeing down here. If this carries on for a few weeks, then I’ll have a lot of expensive fert to carry over into 2022/23

Likewise. Will almost take all of the only dry day forecast tomorrow to clear it before more rain arrives later in the week.

I'm not sure this rain was forecast to be quite like this.

MOP costa me £12 an acre for 60 units , can cover the lot in a morning ,

I'm not saying muck is bad , far from it , just not cheap to spread
You also know exactly how much each acre has had.
Muck has good points but every load is different and spreads differently as well. No idea what you have applied to each acre.
