At times I wonder how come the current offering of super high hp tractors have not yet surpassed where Big Bud had got to nearly half a century ago.

I get the impression that some of the youtube farmers would pay over the odds just to have one to show off now.
Its so far removed from what all of is in the UK can relate too drilling size to tractor pulling it compared to what he is doing over there.
even the largest 8m vaddy would pull easily up any of his hills with that 1050 but what was his largest DD drill again? 120ft
& heck not to mention its weight alone but that seedcart/fertcart behind that.

I dont Know, I think the video was 4 stucks in a season🤔

I'm sure I saw 4' stucks' in a single day in one video? Of course, one of his stucks is a serious affair- throw in a 500hp artic tractor, drill you can't lift much and a seed cart as well, all with zip weight being handed to the tractor and you can soon see how stuff could get hopelessly bogged or broken good and proper.

The 1050 was crap pulling a drill and just could not put the power down and it was far far more expensive than a quad trac

I guess most of us recognised that the job he had in mind for that Fendt wasn't going to agree with it even if it was sat on triples and had all the wheel weights under the sun. I mean if 600+ hp on tracks that weighs what, 25 tonnes doesn't work for you then I'd be agreeing to just go one gear slower.

No tractor is going to come close to a quadtrack for grip, you would think he would demo stuff before buying and then deciding it was no use to his job.

I did see a video but another farmer says that there is a massive difference between pull behind and pull between, I wondered if he would do better with the pull between. But totally agree with @ollie989898 the physics of adding all that weight just to get traction surely does not add up.

Look at mike mitchs vid the weight he added to the fendt and jd twin track compared to the quads and they still dont get the traction
He posts videos in those tracked jd’s lambasting them for no power and no grip, well why the hell did he buy them! No point buying a donkey then moaning that it won’t jump a hedge. Can only be time before a manufacturer will refuse to supply him.

“YouTube Farming” as in the US etc style doesn’t exist here. No one cares . . .
No one likes “tall poppies” or show offs . . .

Anyway, back to the Ideal.
Someone must have bought one here, it’s sitting in the dealers yard

I will say, NO ONE here would have bought it just because it’s a “Fendt”. Although their tractors are gaining in popularity & have a good reputation, it would have ONLY been bought because of a good deal / good relationship with dealer / it offers a clear advantage over the competition.
Deere / Claas / CNH are the clear leaders here, especially amongst contractors ( which is a very large part of our harvesting capacity & the main buyers of large capacity machines ). I believe the Fendt is based on a MF ? They have a bad reputation here & I have never seen a farmer or contractor in this part of the world run MFs, apart from a friend of mine. He was a grain harvesting contractor with a long history of Allis Chalmers “Gleaners”, N6 / N7 etc, who bought 2 of the biggest MF machines due to the AGCO connection. They were a warranty nightmare, the biggest problem was the the final drives kept failing & I think he ended up taking legal action. They nearly broke him, he couldnt even give them away . . .
He is back with a current series Gleaner . . .

It is a MF rebadged, how do you know its sold and not a demo machine?

im only assuming it’s been sold, could be a demo but I haven’t heard or seen the dealer promoting it & with harvest about to start or already stated further north, then it doesn’t really make sense for it to be sitting in a yard here & not working ?

besides, we don’t see many “demo” machines . . .

but yeah, on reflection it could quite possibly be a demo. Probably more likely than being sold here

Been offered a 1 year hire deal on a big ideal, not got numbers yet but it would have to be significantly less than Claas to change away from what we know is a good and reliable product

1 year hire is unusual though, usually been asked to commit to 3 or 5 yrs in the past

That is why the quad tracks were developed as old antics needed duals or quads to make use of the power so went for tracks to get bigger ground contact so they could get the power down and keep them narrow to move on the roads as well as uping the horse power.
