Wasps 2021

In our last house we had a nest under the eaves and above the bedroom ceiling. I could hear them, put my hand against the plasterboard and it went straight through. Room full of wasps was not fun. They had eaten through the board just leaving a skin of paper and Paint.

Plenty of wasps here, as mentioned, seem smaller and more aggressive than usual, probably because we don’t have any apples or any other fruit this year for them to get their late summer sugar rush from.
Himself was unlucky to disturb a huge nest while strimming, cue stings, shouting, and a great deal of swearing.
We also have quite a few hornets around, but thankfully not nesting in our chimney like they did two years ago. We didn’t realise before then that hornets will fly at night, and are attracted to lights like moths. It was a bit un-nerving to say the least to turn the bathroom light on and have forty or fifty of the blooming great things bashing on the window trying to get in!:nailbiting:

We have a hornets nest somewhere, I must be first light on in the village and the come and knock on the window, they get in through the key hole but are easy to kill because a pretty big and slow.
I jumped off the quad the other day and stood on a wasp nest, I ran across the field trying to get undressed as I ran (they where in my swan dry) and lost my glasses in the process, I had to ring the misses to come out and find them because couldn't see the wasps or where my glasses where! It took a speedy get away on the quad to get that away after! :ROFLMAO:

Few Jaspers/apple drains round here but not enough to be a nuisance.

Was clearing a muck heap for a neighbour and disturbed a nest about a month ago, one of the family is allergic to stings so they had a pest controller in for £25. 10 minutes and the nest was sorted.

Not seen a hornet all year thank goodness

I use a Nippon wasp nest killer inside a sealant gun on the end of a 5m extendable pole to get at wasps nests on the house. This year one of their nests was at the top of the eaves above the bedroom window, so we we getting wasps in every morning at 6am. Their nest is just out of reach, plus the fact that you are waving an aluminium pole within a couple of feet of the power cable, meant that they got let off this year

If you get a nest in the loft or elsewhere, wait until night-time and its cool then enter with a can of chemical silly string in each hand and nuke them.

I dislike wasps thoroughly, they aren't ever rare around here because of the fruit bearing and old trees around next door, they like old wood to chew at and make their nests out of.

Had a big nest in top of our house. Exterminator guy said it was one of biggest he has seen.

Had several this year. Wife freaks out about them. Didn't bother me. Weren't many in living space.

Not sure if the "Nippon" wasp killer is the same as I had ,but The aerosol I had , you simply pointed the jet at the entrance hole - you could stand 25/30 metres away , and you didn't need to be too accurate either . The wasps simply carried it in on their feet and it wiped out the whole nest -- pronto ! I did mine in the evening . and by morning the nest was deserted . I was a bit worried about having one so close , as my son is badly allergic to wasp stings , and has to carry an anti- histamine pack in his dash pocket to be safe
