Dysect ewes beginning of April, shear them in June then Dysect again in the middle of August and don't have any maggot problems. Only worry if it's still warm towards the end of October.

Haven't had any trouble until now and haven't sprayed ewes all summer.
Sheared 4 ewes Thursday and treated 1 today and sprayed the lot when they were in

I've had my ewes through a jetter twice this summer but it's just wearing off now.
Did this one a few days ago, but could of been one of the two that jumped out of the rappa.

Gathered a bunch of blackie lambs too dip tomorrow. all been tail clipped ready too go so totally clean. No bad feet in any of them. 2 had maggots between hips & shoulders. 😫🤬🤬🤬🤬 it’s sodding mid October!

anyone know what temperature they start to become inactive , house was full of black flies this afternoon like an august day.

I find when night temps get above or drop below 10c they become active/inactive around here. Supposed to be down to 5 on a night by next weekend with us so doubt I'll see more bother after shearing a pet lamb today.

For whatever reason, maggots seem to do as much harm in one day in October as they do in four or five days in june,
They break the skin very quick in October
I’ve found this the last few years, I’m sure they are more vicious as if they know they only have a few breeding cycles left so try to do as much damage as they can in as short a time as possible!!

Thank goodness we're about 3C this morning, should hamper them a bit. Last strike about 3 weeks ago. Mostly feet. Just got the latest NADIS blowfly alert though tho, shows red in the southern half of England still :(

We had a ewe with them on her shoulder yesterday. But it was sodding cold first thing here this morning so I’m hoping that’s slowing the little sods down
