let’s see

do AHDB CEO and CFO attend sector board meetings ? these are the top 2 people who actually control change

at least i’ve tried, he’s buying nothing and was under no illusions of my views and that if they don’t do the right thing re assurance I will vote out when the time comes as despite the good stuff they do I can not support any organisation that fails to support my business

if they don’t change this time frankly they are history
fails to support your business is not as strong as some would put it

thing that makes me giggle if the government and vegans get their way especially with no farming in the uk just imports of food talk, (and the horrendous future plan to 'phase out' red meat) their all out of the job regardless, you would think they would stand up and protect agriculture just to protect them selves at least... fool on them...(not aimed directly at adhb but more rt and nfu)

About time!!! Let hope it creates a wave of scrutiny, love to see how they will try and justify it the ‘help farmers’ when it’s used for the opposite!!
the phrase “building the brand” will be used by red tractor!

that only benefits them not us as it’s not our brand!

Maybe we could suspend our payments to red tractor too.
Let's hope we achieve our goal of it being truly optional rather than essentially mandatory.

And when farmers choose to be RT assured, it provides a genuine premium. The current set-up where RT grain is both the base standard accepted by feed mills AND the premium standard is never going to provide a premium. Get the base standard for UK grain to equal imports via a pesticide declaration, then feed mills who ask for RT grain will have to pay a premium - otherwise we'll supply to a feed mill that doesn't require RT, but is happy with pesticide declaration.

Don't forget to remind AHDB...

They supported RT, they sponsored the AIC conferences, the industry has set the base standard to feed mills as RT (but not for imports), so they've supported adding an extra layer of cost for AHDB levy payers to access same markets as imports. Or, alternative view is they've totally cut off those markets for non-RT levy payers. = FAIL.

AHDB and NFU might say "Ah, but testing imported grain for pesticides is expensive, so RT compliance is a cheaper method of gaining market access".

In which case, point out that imports need testing for pesticides, as they're grown with pesticides which are banned in the UK. We don't need to test, as only use UK approved pesticide. AIC allow a pesticide declaration for grain into a feed mill for imported grain, so that's the base standard.

A pesticide declaration is free, so why are AHDB and NFU (who are supposed to be on our side) already suggesting that RT might be a cheaper route to market than pesticide testing? Is this because they are guarantors to RT and don't want to see it lose relevance? Why aren't they saying..."Ooh, a pesticide declaration complies with the AIC rules, it's free, therefore we want it as a method for our levy payers to access markets"

We're quite capable of making our own business decisions, we don't need AHDB, NFU, RT, AIC to decide what standard feed mills amd farmers must produce to. Government decide this, and then individual businesses should have choice to specify RT if they wish.

Short term vision and gain, that's all they care about. Seems rife in society these days, happy to screw everyone for their own personal gain

I think farmers have had a horrible shock over the last few months to find out the non farming union is a part owner of RT. That union never wanted this information to get out so kept us all in the dark until we dug and dug and forced them to admit it. And they represent farmers??? What an expensive joke. They could help farmers at the stroke of a pen if they chose to but they have conflict of interests.
How the hierarchy there can continue to look farmers in the face is a mystery. They have cut off our markets.

As far as I'm concerned the Farm Assured horse has long bolted & now AHDB are closing the stable door.
If we get to vote on AHDB's future as cereal growers, it's a no from me.

They have been happy to take the levy from us growers for all these years and give it to the Red Tractor monopoly which clearly discriminates against us British cereal growers.

I'm still on the fence. If they do nothing on RT then they are not worth keeping. If they do then I may be tempted to keep them

The problem could have been solved years ago using this method but there seems to be a distinct lack of balls in the farming arena.

Looks like there's going to be a massive compensation payout to farmers. Just as well Ive subscribed to this racket for the last twenty years! Part owners of RT look out.
Could you elaborate on this? I might still have a chance since we left RT four years ago!

Came to my email as I’m in their mailing list for events etc . Reading it further it seems not everyone can give their views, but you may be chosen to participate , which seems open to picking and choosing .View attachment 990877

As I understand it, it has to be like that as it is commissioned by an external company who randomise who they speak to. If there are 9000 responses and they confirm they will speak with everybody, it is not practicable. I believe all the data are used but the more in depth conversations are randomised. This survey has been going for donkeys years. I think there will be more opportunity to vote and give views in the ballot in the Spring.

Also, if ever my family have a problem, I just ring them up. I usually get hold of the right person within a few days.

Imagine you'd been dealing with a company for years, you later found out you'd been overcharged & pointed it out to them. They apologised & said they wouldn't make the same mistake in future, but they couldn't refund the amount they'd wrongly taken from you.

Would you still deal with them ?
