Umbilical hernia in calf

I have been monitoring one of this years calves as it's had a umbilical hernia which has been growing. This is now the 3rd one in 3 years, yet never had one on the farm previously. Different bred cows and different bulls so cant be a link in breeding I don't think. One calf per year and each one has had to be removed/sewn up as a vet job. Anyone similar experience?

We have had the odd one before. Couple of stitches and antibiotics as you could be trapping in bactiera.
The 2 that we have had been fine.
One was a proper hernia with guts other was just a larger hole.

Similar to you, we've had one in each of the the last 2 calving seasons. We have operated and they're fine but vet says don't breed from them. We looked back to see if their breeding was connected but nothing obvious. One op was simple push up and sew-up job, the next one was 2 vets for the whole morning which took us by surprise (just a much worse hernia and bits of it stuck to the muscle layers where it was coming out).
