Having spent days/hours lifting after going down after calving, managed to quietly walk this girl in on her own.
Not my cup of tea of cow but hopefully she will go on quietly. Don't have much success with downer cows, always something going wrong when trying to drill winter cereals!

Hope she goes on OK.

If I had been lifting her she would have had shackles on for a while and definitely before she came in parlour.

Just getting the cows in and frost creeping in here as well, winter is definitely on the way 🤮View attachment 991504
yes, winters on it's way, 1/2 way through october, we are having an easy time, just lets hope it keeps dry for another week or two. Later springs are not quite as bad, the days get longer, makes you feel better !
How are you getting on with the calves, hopefully getting better. We all have these disasters, at some time or other, the man who says he doesn't, is a liar. Work through it, learn any mistakes, and move on, that is all you can do, what's done, is done, no use looking back, move on.
Sorry to hear you live in the cold part of cornwall, other parts are still sunny !

Does Cornwall even do winter🤔, looks like spring🤣
This place does, on top of a hill and always 5 degrees colder than dad's place and he's only 15 minutes away, dreading december-february always bitterly cold here :(

But during the summer it's also 5 degrees cooler with a nice breeze and being next a river retains moisture well meaning good grass growth and takes a hell or a drought to dry up

The landlord always goes on about how it was the only green farm during the drought of 1976 (I think that's the right year? I can't quite remember it personally 🤣 )
