Saving The Clydesdale Horse

Just thought I'd let people know there's a good program on BBC Scotland (Freeview 9) about Clydesdale horses and trying to help the breed as numbers are getting low.

Not really a horsey person but Clydesdales are something special šŸ˜Ž

Hope it's ok to post in this section.

I love heavy horses.

Iā€™m no horseman, but I reckon 100 years ago I could have been in my element with a pair of Clydesdale or Suffolk Punch.
Yes they're always a great sight, at the Royal Highland show when they do a display with the shinning harness and spotless trailers looks amazing.

My Grandfather was right at the time of binders and horse ploughing.

Dad used to tell me about riding back from the hay field on a Clydesdale.

Plenty nostalgia I suppose but doubt I'd be so keen in reality.

You'd need a slightly smaller lime spreader šŸ˜Ž

Yes, theyre very popular in North America. The Breed started just outside of Lanark. Perfect animals in every way.

my father was a horseman we didn't get a tractor till the sixties nothing gave the old man more pleasure than going to the neighbours and pulling his stuck tractor out as a kid i used to go to the cart-horse stable to have my bate with the men sitting on the corn bin listening to the yarns it was always warm in there,I remember turning hay with a dickey turner behind a horse it was a very pleasant job you could always talk to the horse but you would have to be a complete nutter to converse with a tractor

Yes I can see your point. I think if sheepdogs are ever replaced by mechanical means I shall give up sheep farming.
