Aircon or Not

Its a no brainer to have it , the transmission heat off modern tractors will make you sleepy/ tired after a few hours so its safer with aircon , especially on long days , personally I tend to set it as low as is comfortable as an aircon cab is not a particularly healthy environment (dry air) but its far better than being without.

I disagree what about those pissy wet days when your in and out with wet clothes got to have the door shut for the driving rain can’t have the heater blowing hot air flat out to see mist the windows or your sweating everytime you get in, flick air con on windows clear in no time, if anything air con is more important on a handler than anything
Heater on and window door open and window s don't steam up. Most ac,s don't work properly on th,s anyway.

Air con is on continuously in my telehandler. Keeps me cool in summer and keeps the windows clear of mist in the winter. Absolutely essential. Oh and never run the handler with top half of door open, keep it clean dust and 💩 free in the cab.
On paper I 100% agree; but in reality, unless I’m going up the road, I dont think I could bring myself to close the top half of the door 😂

Our manitou has a one piece door with a fancy pants electric window and it’s quite nice being able to crack it open an inch, keeps almost all the dust out but just lets enough fresh air in and times.

Agree though that a/c is essential in the wet winters and you get in and the cab goes into full steam room mode.

In my tractor it’s on 365 days a year.

If the Aircon breaksdown, then I treat it as if the whole machine is down, same as if the engine won't start. Cab windows always closed, Aircon on. Summer and winter. Life is to short to fill lungs with sh!t.
that's ok if you have a spare tractor we went through three months of harvest and autumn sowing with no air con apparently the delay in coming out was due to covid? and the only window to open is the back one

Ive had some issues getting some cnh parts this summer - 6 weeks or more - no problems with anything else. Cnh are most of my work though.

Nope. We had 3 hot days in 1976, 2 in 1984, and one last summer. Not spending £500 per year gassing up, and replacing expensive parts for that.
Used properly, re-gassing is a rare occurence....

Had a Zetor with an aftermarket A/C I had fitted when new in 1999. Had it serviced at 10yrs, not lost a gram of gas. Sold it in late 2019, A/C still working really well.

Kioti new in 2012, best A/C I have ever come across, still going well after 9 1/2 years

Use the compressor regularly, as in every time you get in the tractor, to keep glands, seals etc lubed. I was told this by the guy who fitted the original A/C in the Zetor.

Even have air con on my skid steer, went from no front door to front door and air con for cleaning out the chicken houses. Feels like total luxury not having to wear a mask and dust blowing onto your lap yes i wore a boilersuit.. Clothes clean and no odour, only problem is when a skid steer gets hot the heat comes up through the floor from all the hydraulics and motors under your posterior .

Telehandler needs air con to keep the windows clear in damp conditions.

Had a tractor on a dyno, actually no difference or very slight increase in power with the air con on.

Have two orchard tractors with just ROPS, nothing nicer than being out in the fresh air on a nice day , aircon was standard on them.;)

I don't know how anyone could drive a machine without it. I was once driving a machine when the aircon stopped (wire under seat went) and within minutes the interior was hot and sticky as hell. I persisted to get the job done and stayed going another 30 minutes by which point I was covered in sweat and nearly dopey from heat exhaustion.
well we can
