Indeed, me too. I would say gone same way.
Can get both wellies and fencer batteries less than 2/3 the price (same brands) delivered to my door. Dog food similar.
I have emailed the CEO several times about poor stock levels after the staff said they cant reorder until a certain amount is needed, I pointed out that I could order one water fitting online for the same price or less and have it delivered the next day so why couldn't they get stuff, didnt even bother to reply, just about sums them up.

Agree they are a shadow of their former self. My business with them now is minimal. Farm stores terrible, stock poor and losing/moving away from recognised premium brands. No longer deal with Gallagher electric fencing for example.
Trying some fancy loyalty scheme now to retain business but it’s overly complicated and not worth the effort. Be better to give the small bonus up front in a keen price.
They have completely lost their original ethos and roots and grown into what they always stood up against with bloated overhead costs and an army of managers, middle managers and too few Indians!

So, according to Johan Tasker in FW

Blinky is in line to be elected as Suffolk NFU County Chair. What do the Suffolk members on here think about that?
Cancelled my membership last week. I don’t even know who the chairman is at the moment!

And the new red tractor vice chair looks like he is right on message.

When I came to renew my NFU insurance a month a go
I was warned that going forward I was at risk of losing
my nfu mutual bonuses if I didn't join and become a member.
I thought the two were seperate entities ?
I haven't joined but my bonuses are substantial .
We renewed our NFU mutual insurance yesterday.
They are separate entities.
I let it be known that I had cancelled our NFU subscription direct debit and we will probably leave.
The reasons I gave were mainly Red Tractor but also electronic tagging and whole life assurance.
I pointed out that Acres, County, F&M were all keen for our business but we felt that we were currently happy with the Mutual.
There was no mention of bonuses, they are well aware of the insurance competitors out there and (in our case) appreciate our business.

I really do wonder how many good members NFU are prepared to lose over this.

Our NFU lady coming today to discuss the insurance. I will be making my feelings clear regarding the red tractor cartel.

Tell her that you are intending on resigning your Membership, and when she "threatens" you with a loss of bonus, thereby increasing your Premiums, then you can tell her that sadly you will have to look elsewhere for insurance... Watch for the pursed lips and pinched expression..

I intended leaving an advert from a rival insurance broker...

I am surprised your local NFU Agent did not make a big deal out of the Bonus. Mine certainly did, as I believe have done other Agents. It is a big selling point from their perspective.

not sure on the importance of losing bonuses, when NFU mutual are rarely even competitive to start with. everyone i know who has stayed with them is fully aware they are expensive but they like that they pay out no quibbles, think they might change their view if losing bonuses or whatever discount they are supposedly getting is mentioned. personally I think its pretty hard to justify extra £100s or £1000s a year to be with them no matter how much better the service allegedly is, even so im pretty dubious about whether the "bonus" is actually a meaningful discount when it appears to only be mentioned by some agents.

The NFU are so predictable. The top tier would have way more credibility if they didn't just cram an NFU person in every available position.

But remember, party line is, the NFU have no control over what Red Tractor do.... 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Who was that compared to? I'd be absolutely amazed if there isn't a company out there somewhere that will beat the NFU price
F&M were around 20%dearer.
Rang another just to check farm vehicles
and the bloke rang me back and told me they
couldn't get anywhere near .
There are quite a few variables with insurance when
getting quotes .I could go cheaper if I didn't want the
same level of cover.
