Yes not too bad a buy . ... I hesitate to mention this but I managed to sell her 3 round Barley bales for £16 a bale ..2 in the trailer and one on the truck so it helped the deal a bit . 😊😊
I would think in market the bulls would have been £600 ish and the heifer £550
Wasn't she lucky straw under £80 ton delivered and she saved all that money on commission and haulage and a day spent at auction.

Put them through the drier to cool a bit with a few bucketfuls of non smokey ones then keep them separate and stick them on the bottom of a lorry or 2?
Had heated rape seed and adding fine ground coffee and blowing it for a couple of days. Took the smell out and blended it off and no problems moving it. Wife put a skunk thru once picking up swaths of canola. Dumped a whole hopper full in a small bin and blew air for a week. Came out smelling ok ish.

If it’s a thick tangled crop let it stand. The amount lost by swathing early to avoid shelling from the swather and then risk of the swath blowing once it drys out then shatter being picked up will make you want to cry. Dine it fir twenty years as there was no option in a short season with varying stages. Now with a pod anti shatter gene bred into some varieties I let everything stand unsprayed. Even without the gene a decent heavy tangled crop is safe stood as long as no high temperatures and wind.

Rape swathes never blow here, more at risk from extended wet spells .
In 2004, august was very wet and oilseed rape swathes all started to sprout.
That was the end of swathing round here.
Organic crops still need swathing though

1st load dried, or close enough, out of the collection of scrap, I mean drying set up 😂
Hopefully only another tub full to do, rest might just scrape in 🤞as it’s taken several hours to get this one though 😬🙈
Note to self, try not to cut beans at 20% again 🙈
Neighbour dried ours. 25 tons in tub at 23%/24% only took 12 hours!.
Four tub loads kept him busy. The diesel bill might be a bit scary.

Plus side, some beans were at the back of the shed for almost a fortnight at 24% and seemed pretty stable.

Are you not thinking you took advantage there?
Why ?
I paid exactly what they were advertised for .... I was the second to ring ,the first only wanted the heifer but she wanted them to stay together . .... I explained that bulls and heifer calves couldn't stay together much longer .
£16 a bale for Barley straw delivered would be seen by most as reasonable !
As above post ...I don't shout out at market if I buy a bargain " they are worth £100 more so I will pay it .
...and I very kindly relieved her of a cup of coffee and a lovely piece of fruit cake .
