Ditch dreching

Can anyone advise of a contractor that can provide ditch clearance near knutsford East Cheshire. Either manual or machine.

I have approx 120 - 150 meter run of ditches that have trees / hedge one side and a post rail fence the other. The sides of the ditches are clear, but there is build up at the bottom of the ditch which is now preventing drainage into the drainage pond.

if anything like round here, there will be loads of people with a machine, sounds like 2 or 3 days work, if you don't want to damage the fence sounds like you may need a machine 8 ton or over to be able to reach over. It does depend on how far the trees overhang the ditch, as they may get in the way of the digger and need cutting back to give room, job maybe for a tree shear first on the machine?

Yes based on boundary assumptions it belongs to the neighbour, but they left the country 3 yrs ago and are not interested as it does not affect them. So we will take of it.

So, are you going to ask them first? Might the ditch be in an environmental scheme restricting the dates when it can be cleared? Are you putting the spoil back onto your neighbours land?

Like many things in modern life, a surprising number of boxes to tick in these sort of things.
