I remember an elderly gentleman telling me he bought a County crawler there in the late 60's for not a lot of money as they were unwanted when equal size wheel county tractors were introduced also when I worked at the local IH agent in the 70's the boss bought a 454 and 574 there but the purchase price was kept secret , probably half or less what he sold them for

Large proportion of each sale was FH Burgesses trade ins, we used to sell stuff sometimes but never bought anything! Most seemed to get loaded onto massive loads going over to Ireland.

The cattle market was good though, when it was in the centre of the town, never quite the same on the new site until bought out by Bagshaws when the two Tony’s retired

Richard still operates his auctions from there though, very good auctioneer imo.
