The corn trade is on fire today.
Lamb finisher pellets are going to be
well up in money come Jan/Feb .
Computer problems again today, whole auction stopped for maybe an hour and a half, did ask them to go to get some feed from Carrs to give to my lambs as they would be losing too much weight…..fell on deaf ears

35 40kg lambs lean £110+
Smaller stuff £90+
Long long term lambs handbags I call them £80+
Auctioneers here still right it down on paper as they sell them.

I think someone dug up cable along the road last time and job was stopped maybe three hours or so. Trade was shyte when they got fired up again. I waited because I thought I might have to go back for them otherwise or get robbed. That’s a good few years back now. What’s wrong with a pencil and paper!! Wheat ex farm for May is now £250 ton
Barley ex farm for May is now £230 ton.
April prices are about £10 less!
How are they going to be able to supply feed in April for £290 ton unless its mostly sawdust?
Certainly the beef + Lamb price is going to go up sharply, like for like with last year it will need to be at least £9 kilo deadweight for lambs if not more come April/ May.
And beef will need to be at least £5.50+ kilo just to stand still !

It will be next summer when the feed firms run out of forward bought raw materials that the prices will start to rocket!

Barley £219 ex now £189 next harvest
Looks like it's only going one way at the moment
Feed prices are going to be going up again, I can't see much of a margin in fattening cattle for the foreseeable

Around here feed firms have only part filled their forward requirements of
bought in grain.It will get quite interesting from the new year on.
