Livestock farm, few hundred acres, lots of hedges, used contractors up to now but now think it is worth doing myself, I have more time in autumn now for one, would like to, and could get on the land when needed instead of having to wait. I have a McCormick CX105 tractor, (102hp), what hedge cutter should I look to get, what should I look out for, probably 2nd hand but would consider new. Thanks for any advice.

Wev got a 5155 mcconnell with cable controls. Good cutter with enough reach but still be light enough for your tractor. Personally i like cable controls as less to go wrong but that wouldnt be a popular opinion

find a decent McConnel or Twose / bomford , depending on your budget , i have an old well looked after pa34 that was kept as a spare (£1500) , does 100ac a year no problem , condition more important than make whatever you buy ( mcconnel are good for parts ), major parts can be expensive for any machine

Have had McConnell, now have Twose and get on well. Have nothing against a Bomford but if you have single strand electric fence to cut behind that belt drive on their heads really sticks up to snag it.
