It could put consumers off British meat all together.

That is the general intent of the media. Title says it all.

That said, it looks even worse when a TV show unearths these below standard practices, not the body designed and funded to do it. If Red Tractor are going to complain they weren't told about the problems when the filming was originally done, it's even more embarrassing and makes a mockery of having a scheme all together. They should be the one's finding the problems and making sure standards are met.

It's going to be another bad night for the farming industry imo.

So if it shows farming in a bad light can we all sue red tractor for not doing enough to ensure standards are been maintained?
Did you not read the posts yesterday about the way HFD treated his RT inspector?? who did nothing wrong other than to turn up for an agreed inspection and as soon as they got out of the car he laid straight into them and before long had reduced the inspector to tears!

How can they enforce the scheme rules when farmers that are in the scheme are behaving like this?

( and i have no time for RT or the inspectors but what he did to the RT inspector amounted to nothing more than bullying and was done to prevent them from carrying out the inspection )

Yep i totally agree, the problem is further up the line and not the inspector.

Thou of course you get the odd bad inspector who is on a power trip but if that happens just be polite ask them to leave and call their office to explain why and ask to be sent a new inspector.

HFD cattle went off on one at one point because she asked this simple question: Where is your disinfectant? that is just a bog standard question they ask at every inspection!
