I need to get hold of some eye ointment, the vets are saying there has been none available since May, Orbenin or Opticlox, anyone getting it from their vets?
Yes, but ask the vet which to use, the oil in some (like pen strep) can be very irritable to the eye.Haven't had any for years, a jag in the eyelid with a cheap antibiotic saves all the messing about with ointment and tubes.
Yes, you shouldn't use anything oily for conjunctival injection.Yes, but ask the vet which to use, the oil in some (like pen strep) can be very irritable to the eye.
I have used teramycin 1ml and a very fine needle, best job. I read on here use blue spray, but I mentioned it to the vet, she said, don't as it stings because of the alcohol in the spray.Haven't had any for years, a jag in the eyelid with a cheap antibiotic saves all the messing about with ointment and tubes.

Our vets have been sending out dry cow tubes because they haven’t got any orbenin!Rumour has it that a small squib from a dry cow tube will do just the same thing, but at a fraction of the cost.
Don’t tell anyone though, or they won’t sell any more Orbenin.
