Simba freeflow seed flow issues

Anyone else have a problem with seed jamming out of the metering unit and not going down the pipes to the coulter air is on maximum setting so carnt see it being that. Conclusion I have come too is that there’s not enough fall on pipes from metering unit to coulters as they sit about flat across drill this meaning no gravity to help on it’s way. Only option I see is to lift the hopper and metering unit up a fair few inches to get more fall a ton done this/had any experience with problem? Many thanks

In that case no, sorry.
Have had it bridge in hopper above the fluted roll. Some thick cable ties put on the agitator shaft in line with each hole cured that problem.
Sorry not to be of help.

Those hoppers/seeding mechanisms have been fitted on a multitude of drills including the freeflow…I’d hazard a guess you have an issue. Have you taken all the end plates off and blasted all the debris out of the air box? Air flow ok?

Is it a new to you drill or you’ve used it before? The gap from fluted roller to housing is adjustable 1-8; on 8 it will just drop straight through (?)

Thanks for input @its.... only me but yes unfortunately not as straight forward as that. Yes quite annoying issue as it’s a bit sporadic and not every time but take off pipe and it’s nothing major blocking it yes took end plates off pressure washed out then blown out when dry to make sure.. was wheat seed been dressed/cleaned so should run out was at 240kg/ha but still should be fine at that. Yes new to us drill been quite modified for a direct drill but just small niggle of blocking up which is annoying. Will have a look tomorrow @alomy75 and will let you know if on one could
See that being the issue if on 8 or near higher side then should be going through

I’d have to check the book but I think wheat is number 2 or 3; beans would probably be 5 or 6.

yes your correct there @alomy75 Iv checked area and had a play with everyone’s suggestions it was on 2 but moved it up too 3 to be sure. Yes checked all them @B R C lamd wheel spinning smooth and all uj joints fine and greased we have changed the drill dramatically and have different feet and points to normal being the vos points dual band seeding for direct drilling but the principle is still the same so cannot see why that would effect the drill. Managed to get air speed up a fair bit was around 2000 mark and got it near to 2500 seemed to be making a difference as had a go but before could have much of a go the frost was thawing from the ground so couldn’t carry on I still think I pipes being level and not dropping is not helping at all but anyone else raised the actual drill hopper up? As people have said it’s a trusted system but cannot go every row or every other row with 2 blocking up every time when doing a lot of drilling in autumn/spring

I still have my freeflow which has also been converted to weaving sabre tines. Seed tube behind coulter is basically a full bore pipe. I can’t remember exactly but I’m sure wheat was 2800-3000 revs and beans was way more? Like 3500? Have you got the book? Mines outdoors if you want me to check over the weekend. Mine has air diffusers on each coulter too-could that be the issue? Too much restriction? Sounds interesting-any photos of the drill?

i have a miniflow same metering unit. with wheat i run it with the flaps set to 3 and fan speed 2800.pipes run flat across the back and not had any problems even at high seed rates.2000 would be more like fore drilling rape

Yes thanks for that @alomy75 we have got the manual and that says for wheat around 2000-2500 beans around 3000 but Manual is only a guide ares is flat out all air on max and we’re only getting 2400 so something isn’t rite there the pump could maybe need reselling at only a guess. Yes ares doesn’t have diffusers on just straight air down to the coulter but the blockage is at the top so there’s something not quite rite there. Your correct @radar I wouldn’t say it’s enough going to have a play and see if can get airspeed to 3000. Interesting @rob h seems like sensible option would be too look at air and get it nearer 3000 and have another play thanks for that info appreciated. Yes there’s a thread onit the links at bottom used the front legs to mount the vos openers on but changed it again and moved the front toolbar inline with the vos openers at the rear so basically it’s a strip till drill also if needed to be but can obviously move front legs and feet all out too good concept just this niggle were haveing

Could be but I wouldn’t say so the y fitting is just as wide as the pipe and it’s not restricted at all
That’s why we went for that pipe the foot also has two Big airwholes were seed comes out so woudl t say it’s restricted. We cannot use a single
Pipe as instead of the freeflows 32 legs or whatever we have 16 or 15 but dual Band foot so In theory same amount of seed as 32 but dual band and wider spacing until next foot so in theory it’s similar too two legs in one with the vos openers but because of that have too have two pipes going into one if that makes sense. Also the max air pressure we can get off fan is only 2300-400 people have Said that’s not enough so first point is to get that looked at. Ares is the old pto type so to rule that out next job will
Be to plug it directly in the tractors hydraulics and be done with the pto
