Automatic cattle grading

Can’t believe I’ve been so stupid as to send this lot some cattle again.Tuesdays kill, automatic grading, can’t get skilled staff apparently, these cattle were well finished for blues, driver even commented on them.I won’t name the company cos it has been sorted out to some degree, but this is unacceptable to me.

ABP sheet me thinks.
we have found the automatic grading OK on the whole of what we have sent there. but then they set it up for automatic grading if that makes any diff.

There should be a file saved somewhere with images of the sides somewhere.

The whole days kill was regraded manually, but how can you do that if they haven’t been cut correctly. The camera doesn’t lie but can only record what is in front of it,never ever had a 1 before, let alone 3 on one sheet.

Did the grades change much when graded manually?

We send to two places that use automatic grading. The grades come back very differently despite being the same system.

I do wonder about it sometimes but generally I think its OK.think it can be better on the fatter end of the scale.had plenty that would be a 4H else where but be a 4-/=

Only ever sent 2 consignments to ABP, 5 angus steers that I was happy enough about, then their fieldsman filled me with crap about how much better that hey were than my local abattoir on dairy cross beef, I sent 22 BB X and LIM X and had the exact same as Balerman, there were 3 P grades, only ever sent a handful of dairy cows that made P grade, never fat animals, they adjusted the payment but not enough. I asked their fieldsman, how are your suppliers putting up with this nonsense. he said people keep their fats for an extra month and it gets around the automatic grading
