so new car you are thinking of is a pickup? I though the new car was for your wife hence my question on BIK. sorry didnt register when i first read it!
Yes new pickup to replace our run around car that basically is treated as a van
Still keep the wife’s car, it’s a keeper
And run the fencing pickup as per usual

Well I've fallen at the first hurdle, did a deal on a Hilux but I've been refused for credit!
I can buy a 100k tractor yet I cant loan a truck!

I was brought up to save up for the things you want, I got a credit card to help my score a few years ago but spending £30 a month isnt enough to make an impact it seems, I have a good credit score but minimal borrowing so to them it looks like I don't borrow money

The PCP deal on the Hyundai Kona we have coming was £450/month with a £2.5k deposit. Same deposit on a lease deal and we're paying £280/month Inc maintenance.
The dealers never give you a leasing option unless you specifically ask, they always push pcp.
I've never yet come across someone who has paid the balloon payment to actually buy the car, they just take a new deal on a new car.
It maybe slightly different now with the increase in the second hand values but I've not come across someone who at the end of the term has actually got equity in the car.

This chap explains it a bit more

i know plenty who had equity at end of term, and that’s before recent used price rises

ballon shoyld be realistic/ pessimistic to avoid nasty shocks !

i suspect most of us were bought up in a similar way

sadly that hasn’t been the best strategy most of my life however with low interest rates and capital asset appreciation

wish i had mortgaged to the max and then some to buy more land and property 20 years ago !
