Never trimmed a sheeps foot for years and get less lameness than we ever used to. If you want to spread foot problems just use a set of trimmers.

We have a lot of bought in stores here and a lot of foot rot comes with them, so do you think the ones with the hoof hanging off would heal better just sprayed with alamycin or just foot bathed and not trimmed? When ytou turn them up its very tempting to tidy the foot up.

I always tidy those ones up. Public perception isn’t good if it looks like it’s foot is hanging off…

We just spray them with lincospectum, works a treat, dont bother trimming anything off. Only use terra spray if its scald

I've a couple of hundred in the shed now, and they're certainly glad to be in. Everything out in the fields is spending much of their time with their backs up under the hedges, so won't be putting on weight.

I did put a hopper out in the field to these, before it came cold/wet, and they were hardly putting anything on once the grass was gone. I did only lose one though, as they transitioned to concentrates more slowly. Since they came in, intakes have increased and they are motoring again. They do a hell of a lot better in a shed IMO, but obviously at a cost.

Those lambs that are now motoring….
I had a pure Charollais cull that I pondered taking on Monday (where she’d have been in the pen that made £136/hd), but decided that she’d stand another week without going to far over. Dead on her back in the barn this morning :kickingsheepemoji: (that emoji should be here) :banghead:

I second that. A boot aiming at a sheep upside down with its legs in the air.

It would be worn out for me, barstewards this week have died for the shear pleasure of it! I'm so fed up with them I'm look at buying a tractor for something else to do! :ROFLMAO:
I’ve certainly had my fill of dead sheep this last 3 weeks. All I need now is my Cheviot mule ewe lambs too set of at it and the whole lot will be for sale!
