So as a brit you had to be able to support yourself before 2016 just the same now, although IIRC the income has gone up, and more paperwork but still totally possible to move to the EU if you want to and comply with their rules, does the EU allow those with criminal records In unlike the USA ?

No you didn’t, you could just come here and doss about. Loads did

Correct.
For a family full private medical insurance is over 20000 euros. A fit individual would be 7000+.
So you need to be wealthy retired or have a job ,qualified in something special as there's loads of labour, or buy a company , employ yourself and generate enough money to pay everything.
So dear old Britain is a soft touch ?? I have often wondered why the boat people /illegal immigrants were so keen to come to our impoverished out of the wonderful EU country?? By what all you Expats say we are indeed buggered .please enlighten me? while you are at it why oh why have got so negative comments about our country/leader? ps did any of you Anti Boris people expect the recent BY election result to be any different?? I personally would be more worried for the main opposition party !!

Looks like boris got another one right ,may make nicola and herr drakeford look like the camp commandant
What did he get right?
He still created a drama over nothing new.
I'd say he just got it less wrong than than NI, Scotland and Wales.

And turns out there was no need for it or the dramatic speeches, hardly sitting the on the fence that you claim.
Yet "had it turned out" that it was a serious variant I'm sure he would have been criticised by many for not acting quicker and locking down, its noticeable that quite a few european countries have gone far further than us including the Netherlands with complete lockdown

So do you think Boris reacted just the right amount?
I dont have access to the data so I cant make a judgement, there is a balance between the economic cost, the health cost of overwhelming the nhs and missed treatments plus the fear factor from a variant which appears to be less of a risk than flu.
He and every government are caught between a rock and a hard place, doesnt matter what they do some clever f**ker will claim it was wrong.
The OAPs being sent to old peoples home is a classic one, while a lot died where else could they go ? I've asked this question to lots of people not one has come up with an answer, we had my MiL here with us despite both working funny how all those on furlough couldnt be arsed .
As with all things covid time will tell

Boris’s tactic could turn out just fine, on the basis that this variant has a much lower hospitalisation factor.
On the other hand, it could theoretically run through the population like wildfire, including front line hospital and essential services staff.
Low rate of hospitalisation spread over a large portion of the population, is still overwhelming numbers of hospital cases. Add high levels of absence by hospital staff, you have a crisis of unimaginable proportions.
Now add high levels of isolation by infected essential service staff, from police to fire fighters to transport staff, to food processing staff, ……

Those are the risks most countries are mitigating against, by introducing higher levels of restrictions, particularly as it’s holiday and party season.

Hopefully, for all your sakes, England gets away with the Boris gamble. It is a gamble. Politically, he is burnt toast right now, and most likely in the last chapter of his leadership of the Tory party and as PM.
What has he to lose? Nothing!
What have the plebs to lose? Possibly a hell of a lot….
Hey ho!
