Definitely more to it than just slapping a bit of paint on.!

I had to laugh at the comment saying the chap with the yellow spray gun was looking bored and was wafting it about like watering his lawn.!
When you see these processes, you can understand why robots have replaced many humans. What a mind numbing job blasting powder onto metal. At least bespoke car spraying is an art form and proper skill.

The thing with the powder coat is the cab with be earthed and powder positively charged so it's attracted to the cab in an even coat, the robot doesn't need to be very good at painting. Can't do that with the yellow parts the same hence man doing it.

Sure awkward shapes are best painted by hand as less paint or powder is wasted I guess

Well that's another consideration all the cabs from different machines are relatively speaking similar size and shape so robot doesn't need to change much from one to another to paint them. Contrast that with putting yellow on half a dozen completely different shapes. Even a lot of car plants robot paint car shells then a man with spray gun checks over before they leave the booth.

Fact is that paint on cars seeems to be as good as it's ever been. Water based as well.

Think back to the old cars which at ten years old looked as rough as a bears arse, now you can see them without any rust at all without much looking after at all.

Just watched it! Quite a good insight into it if you don’t get pulled in by Gregg talking rubbish, paint on a lot of construction/ Agricultural machines is gonna get a testing, so you would hope it would last better!
