Does anyone use Platinum batteries. I’ve had a few but find them hit & miss

They supply most of the agri trade, Vapormatic, Sparex, claas, New Holland, JCB and many more. some are good some are not but really you want to be buying on spec. Buy the best capacity amps and ah rating you can for size you want. like with the 643 buy a 663 or a 665 instead.

Spec wise you wont get better than that yuassa 655HD.

The 1000amp ones others are on about are 642 and spec varies by brand but most are 1000cca and 120ah.
These are not the same size as a 655, the casing is a few mm smaller and terminals are in centre of battery.
As it's a smaller casing with higher spec there is less room inside them so I find they tend not to last as long as the 665.

Sold alot of 642 batts but now favouring that 665HD. If that 665 isnt starting it well enough or lasting it's not because the battery is bad its cause the starter motor is rubbish, either worn out or a poor quality version been fitted in past.

You got it right (mainly) in this post….. 👍

ive returned 2 car batteries under warranty that were exide, (one car one discovery) both were replaced but both failed literally just in warranty would not use them again...

My experiences with Exide haven’t been great but that may have been the vehicle. My engineer sees Exide as a premium brand.

yea its wierd, they were from euro car parts and they swapped them no problems, but at the time i asked my self do people now normally own used cars for longer than 3 years (which was the warranty) probably not? Guy who swapped them said they dont get many back?

splashed out for a bosch silver 5 year warranty on disco last time, had one of these on and old car for years and it would never die!

I've found the same as you tbh although out of 5 I've maybe only had 1 bad so not as hot and miss as some? Just out of warranty as well typically. They only have 12 month warranty as well if they are not on a car.
