We've had plenty of issues with genuine filters. Had a bad batch of John Deere engine filters that had a plastic insert. They were almost impossible to unscrew and on one occasion nearly had to remove the engine out of a sprayer!
Had JCB hydraulic filters that split and recently had a New Holland hydraulic filter where the casing spun on the hub.
You can usually buy good quality non genuine from between 1/3 to 1/2 the price of genuine. We run our machines to high hours and have not seen any problems.

I'm quite happy with and sell on quite a bit of Vapormatic's filters. Fairly easy to find and cross reference from their website too.
