Back in the late 90's when the new stalls ban was making us uncompetitive by a big margin I stood with a small group of pig farmers in a supermarket car park inside the M25. We talked to many shoppers on the way in, they all agreed that it was scandalous that the foriegn pork was cheaper and produced to lower welfare standards. Is it determined by the system? I'd have thought there's as much choice, maybe more, within the M25.
If we expect farmers to change the system we'd all vote for some thing different.......
Any trolleys that we looked in on the way out contained the cheapest foreign pork.
