Looks like autumn muckspreading is back on

The whole committee proceedings is a long watch. It has taken me quite a time.

Generally it restored my faith in Government, the Chair (Neil Parrish mp) knew and knows his stuff and is clearly a clever chap too. All round it looks like common sense will win through, we just want to have the information stated clearly to us sons of the soil in terms that we can understand.

Defra are now chairng the committee that will bring forward the new guidance which we are assured will be out by 'early spring' Could someone at Defra (maybe our hero @Janet Hughes Defra ) could ensure that it comes on here as well as where they might send it otherwise?
Not only have the NFU lost their teeth, they seem to have lost their voice as well.

I don't think any real farmers bother voicing their concerns to them anymore.

I wonder how Neil Parish knew so much about muck spreading the issues with the ban and solutions to rectify ?

I imagine largly due to his experience in farming and im sure in part from the NFU. Can be sure the AHDB wont have done anything as they actually agreed with the EA over banning autumn muck spreading!

Neil parrish is a dairy farmer and a very good MP. He actually does what is in the best interest of his constituents. In contrast to some, who are too busy sucking up to boris and using their enviroment degree to tend to their garden...
Just the guy that should replace useless Eustace in a properly functioning government, trouble is he’s on Carrie’s naughty list so no chance of being in the cabinet

You think the NFU may have submitted evidence and spoke to him?

But according to many very vocal TFF members they have done nothing so you must be mistaken.

Honestly theres only so much the NFU CAN do, and i think they do as much as they can. After all once they've lobbied and presented their evidence at the end of the day its up to the minister...

There also needs to be a wider variety of application to 'growing crops'. As in grass, which down 'yer, grows all year. And a sensible clarification of low N lightly fouled dirty water. Especially if you collect it in underground tanks, which at the moment the EA class as 'slurry tanks' and the contents, 'slurry'..

On another thread, this sort of 'clarification' of the present buggers' muddle was posted.

We had the discussion round this last July at NOCC when I posed the question to you reference to how schemes and FRFW could work together.

Yet we are still no further forward.

In the mean time it has caused real issues on farm and will continue to do so until the guidance is published.

I'm aware there is a lot of concern about this - please be assured that there is work underway to address these issues and we'll report back once that work is complete

Watch the second part of the EFRA parliamentary committee meeting last Tuesday. The EA speakers. They were very clear. Bulky manures ok. Poultry manure and slurry problem. The spokesman for the water companies told it straight! Cannot put sewage sludge to land in autumn get ready for us to spend billions on incinerators which will add to your constituents water bill. Your call Mr Parish and the politicians of all political persuasion.
The utility companies are looking at alternatives to landspreading in any case. I don't think incineration will be involved but other methods like gasification/pyrolysis would make more sense.
