Did you only buy the K as the Volvo & JCb were to expensive for you , I mind any email from you saying you wised you could buy a volvo for the price we had for one ,
I wouldn’t consider a Volvo due to a couple of reasons , one is the Volvo dealer has a cartel on the market and gives poor service , it’s bad when a very big contractor who always runs Volvo loaders had his l90 breakdown , it broke a half shaft , Volvo would not give him a replacement machine during silage season and he had to go to the komastu dealer who gave him a second hand back up machine to keep him going , also the new Volvo now has a deutz engine , you know them well , like your fendt engine that blew up on you.

That's what we're thinking. And a 416 is more likely to have been pushed hard to do 434 work. Was it pins and bushes were wearing on yours?

I hear diffs are a common problem on a 416 whereas theres heavier axles in the 434.
What about the Volvo if you can find one at the right sort of money. If I ever buy a shovel a Volvo would be top of my list.
Edit Posted before it read the whole thread but stand by my reply.

If you could get a 10 year old Volvo with 6-8000 hrs you would have a great loader at not huge money. The only downside to the older Volvos are the 3 little levers for the hydraulics instead of a joystick like all other machines.

You must be a Dreamer I have never had a Deutz engine blow up & had a Volvo L90 coming on demo last year but it did not have a Deutz engine in it it was a Volvo motor & at the last min it never came as it was bought by a guy with broken down Komastu that needed a shovel right away it had a joystick in it & was 50kph.

deutz AG make all volvo badged engines between 4 and 8 litres, but that isnt a new thing, it started around 2000 iirc, so i wouldnt be worried about it. nothing wrong with a komatsu shovel IMO, all makes can break down, Komatsu was the worlds largest excavator manufacturer for a time so they know what they are doing. in fairness james said the older volvos dont have the joystick which is true, and i dont think he was trying to say you would get a 2nd hand volvo for cheap.

Don’t mind Speedstar talking shite , like his 29 mpg fendt tractor , that had its engine fully rebuilt which he still describes as a modification , new pistons and liners is some modification, he runs a toy Jcb loader to push up the few acres is silage that he cuts , the vast majority of big silage contractors here have switched away from Jcb loaders to komastu , Volvo , and New Holland here , still a few Jcb men now buying the 435 models , the Jcb 418 was a total disaster of a troublesome machine and turned a lot of contractors to better quality machines. Also as far as I know there have been no Ag spec komastu loaders sold in the uk so it’s interesting for speedstar to come up with that story. Hard to believe anything out of him after his world record mpg story.

Only 3000 , most of it with 2 wagons and a third on long draws and the bigger jobs.

That is a nice loader, but there is no way I would drive any machine and 'flick' silage all day. Sooner have a push off rake on the front. Easy life.
I got that 14 ft fork made with 16” between the teeth , so I don’t actually be doing that much flicking , as i travel up the pit I just slowly tilt down the fork with the tip just up off the grass , the grass slides off and falls through the tines . Not much different to using a push off .

Ah ok, that makes a lot more sense, you see guys on youtube flicking the fork all day, fudge that for a lark.
