Will a Merlo pull bale trailer?

If it's wet you'll make a mess in fields. My 40.7 struggled to take straw from the fields and made a mess, where as the similar weight 100hp Deere on 600's and 540's floated. Deere is a real PITA at everything else though. In the dry nothing touches the Merlo for clearing bales.

We do all our bale cart with a 40.7 & a 42.7 with a 28 foot bale trailer. If it’s damp underfoot you may need to use 1st gear to pull away but otherwise they cope really well. Lots of hilly roadwork they would struggle but so would any loader. The worst thing about towing on the road with a Merlo is having to stop as the brakes have a habit of wanting to set on fire.

I don't have a Merlo as you know but I was all set to buy one at one time but didn't like the new replacement for the 32.6. 34.7 ? Maybe I've the new number wrong ?

Having visited your area there's some fairly steep ground that I saw and I think your tractor would be better for the work you're speaking about.

My local Merlo fan carts straw back from fields but it's like a bowling green compared to where you are.

Don't know if it's still the case if the Merlo has to be stationery to change from 1st gear to 2nd ?

If so you'll spend a long time in first.

I really like my 30.60 Bobcat but doubt it would be great at your job and it has push button on the move speed change from my "1st to 2nd" it'll easy pull seed and fert trailer out to field but that's not 1200 silage bales, pretty fantastic at everything else mind you 😁 😎

Strange you say that, as the tests I've seen on You tube, show the merlo beating all comers on hydraulic speed
Link to YouTube video please ???

I've nothing against Merlo plenty people seem to like them, tbh I'm sure most modern telescopics have fast hydraulics, super fast compared to a loader tractor.

Everytime. Safer and easier on machine.

I am so happy having a decent 4WD loader again for bale loading and hauling. :)
We’ve a brace of old telehandlers for lifting and 50k tractors for hauling.

works a treat.

dragging straw trailers about all day long with an aging telehandler was doing it no favours so bought an even older one for losing bales and keep the better one in the yard.

Being particular unless you're telehandler has a complete 3 point linkage on the back in not sure they should technically be towing on the road (as they are not classed as a tractor)?
