Spring barley seed rates

I make that 500 seeds/m2.

It may yield all right (if it stands up) but I'll bet it doesn't have a 50g TGW
that crop did go down despite the agronomist say it would not go down because of late drilling

later april planted does not tiller much
for optimum yield barley needs above 700 tillers per m2

i also find that thicker laid crops loose less from brackling as the combine can pick it up

Last year I did 200kg/ha with one inch Dutch openers, this year I’ve reduced it to 180kg/ha using one inch dutch openers again so thought slightly less wouldn’t hurt as more seeds are concentrated in a smaller area compared to most drills. Also leaves me a bit more barley for feeding the cattle!

Usually go at about 125 kg/ha here.
You guys have money to waste?
Mostly spring barley or wheat last year.
I've been to many a ploughing match in Shropshire and can quite understand how yo get away with these low rates, the soil is not exactly taxing to get into a perfect seedbed, I would think you struggle to stop it blowing away!!! Some stunning soils up that way! Am off ploughing today up there Whitchurch YFC match
All mine was drilled @ 185kg/ha just coming up in row some of it.

Medium silty loam mostly here in SW Shropshire with some silty clay.
