I hope somebody more eloquent and with more time than me will respond to the bit he's going to do about farmers being being able to spread FYM again on the land. Pretty clear even in the intro more farmer bashing coming up with not 100% true facts.

I’m sick of the BBC using the media savvy George Monbiot as their environmental expert. The NFU or CLA want to put up a media savvy counter arguement. Today it was left to
Sam from N Yorks ….. who did very well.

Monbiot didn’t really know the difference between manure and slurry
And he seemed to think all farmers have industrial scale pig poultry or dairy units.

The lady whose husband was living by the sea due to the bovine Ammonia was about to start on the normal vegan line of "70pc of crops in the UK used for feeding animals", but was cut off before she could get going luckily. :)
of course almost 70% of UK is only suitable for growing grass as a crop, so to be fair being as we can't eat grass and nature has provided us with a magnificent solution to this in ruminant animals that we can eat, I would agree almost 70% of UK crops are eaten by us (via animals first). But I guess that is not the tack she was looking at!

While I'm very sorry for her husband if he really has to live by the sea due to all the cow muck, I can't help thinking that this is taking egocentricity to a new level. I've never heard of such a condition before, one sufferer hardly justifies changing the entire country's food production for the other 60 million. I wondered if he was lying to her and lived on his own so he could enjoy a fry-up in his caravan without the vegan preaching.

I am always disappointed that when these things make it to national radio, the best our industry can put forward to seize the golden opportunity to set the record straight, is a shouty wurzel.

To be fair my hay fever is much better by the sea and also in a city….I demand the countryside should be covered in tarmac and then flooded to help me breath!!

Where do they find these sad sacks?

That's two instances today of media amateurs being put on national radio. Quite why we still haven't learnt that it is a job for paid professionals is baffling. It's not as if we don't have the money.
Because the BBC don't want n expert to go up against moonboot just a cider drinker !
I sent a pick as was muck spreading .R2 tried to phone me back 6 times I guess nobody had much to say about it !

They always want a farmer on, the media aren’t interested in a slick media spokesman.
