Just south of dijon Turn right at Macon get to charolles about 30mins like being at home in Somerset rolling hills old small farms ,btw dijon very pretty place to visit
That is what I love about France, at least from the motorcycling viewpoint... (y)

Get off the ferry in Caen or St Malo*, and head South, every hour the scenery, landscape and farming change. As a Farmer and a bit of closet geology type, it is superb. The description of France being like a "mini-continent", has some validity.

*I try to avoid the misery of Calais. ;) Mind, I have found a reasonable bike route in and out, these days.

Actually, if I am going full-on girly route, it's a schlep from Pompey to Santander to the fun that is the Pyrenees :) However, I enjoy a slow tootle South with an overnighter in Premeierclasse

As for Dover, 'king motorway all the way home to civilization. :( Pompey or Poole is a scoot across the Cotswolds, and if it's an overnighter, then a lovely ride as the sun comes up.
