Beef / Lamb & Pig Price Tracker

Just had someone wanting to do a bird survey in a lump of ground we have 300 ewes lambing
I said no way at the minute but you are welcome do do it after lambing they said that would be too late has to be done now
We’ve only been lambing since the ninth I explained this and said I didn’t want any more muddle ups they said it’s only for five consecutive days and there would be no mixups with sheep because he starts at 5 am
I don’t know why they think 5 am won’t cause an issue maybe sheep go some other place then?
Ive tried to explain why it’s not a good idea
Looks like next door isn’t buying any £400 cake and planting trees hence the survey
I’ve been a bit narced about it
Anyway you can imagine what I said

Youve been very unreasonable there....he is wanting to do 3 hours survey before lambing starts at 8!

Selling ourselves down the river in the pursuit of “efficiency”. There was a damn sight better living to be made when we were uneducated and less efficient
I think there is a lot of truth in your statement. All we ever read about in the press is how efficient and big we have to be. Look where it’s got the pig and chicken industry. Probably be all better off subsistence farming.

Step son and family just arrived for a couple of nights stay ...... I've just been mowing a patch of grass off so thought I would pop into house just to say hello ..
..." oh aren't you having a day off today " he asked!!

People just have no idea about the farming life
😬😬😬😬
......and I will have to let them have some of my Thatchers tonight 😬😬😬
...and I know what will happen in the morning......they will come down about 9am in their pyjamas and say " got anything planned today " .....

Anyway I'm up in the cattle shed now just finding things to do 😀😀😀😀

I'm a miserable old bugger ...aren't I

What is it with people walking around in pyjamas? For 3 months of the year I sleep in my work clothes in the chair.

On a recent farm walk, front of the handout was a graph showing Canadian farm incomes v outgoings. 97% of the income went out again to suppliers etc. 97%!!! Farms subsidised by the government, equity growth and off farm income
I would imagine to take 3% out of the job you would need some huge turnover?
Did they show how much money they were handling?
