The difference between new and worn tread would likely make more differenceMakes about .5K quicker on the 12 38s
now that I would call a Tad, but some would argue it was a little more

Health to wear and if you are looking for a nice set of 95% mitchelin fronts, nice fresh set in TyroneWell I would like to say thank you for all the contributions to this thread,
And after going to see both tractor, I have bought the 885xl super two, its a fast gearbox so ok
After considering it is the cleanest 30+ year old ex farm tractor I have seen in a while, with a genuine 5500 hours the pedals confirm this, no rust on the cab, tidy in appearance on out side, the cab inside is very clean, no watermarks at all from sun roof, which is unusual, no rips or tears in any of cladding, no holes drilled for brackets etc, down side seat bottom is ripped a little and worn and air con not working due to clutch change, no gass, but can be replaced, outside its had a freshen up, yet seems no rust, all panels are straight, credit to previous owner
All drives as it should, everything working as it should, bleeding handbrake even works,
Downside on outside is tyres perished front more than the backs, but again tyres will be replaced in due time,
Only thing I see missing is front mudguards, so through time it will get them either old genuine ones or some new ones.
It does need odd job done on cosmetics, seat cushion, front top lights, air con etc,
But all in all a very clean tractor and will look good when sorted,
Anyway thanks
Don't think the budget will run to Mitchelin lolHealth to wear and if you are looking for a nice set of 95% mitchelin fronts, nice fresh set in Tyrone
Yes some did have a 40 kph box , but it would be a very late on 1992/3Did any have 40k box
I wouldn't have thought a 885 was available in 92. 895 were in the market by then. The brochure was the best answer to the questionYes some did have a 40 kph box , but it would be a very late on 1992/3
We had L plate oneI wouldn't have thought a 885 was available in 92. 895 were in the market by then. The brochure was the best answer to the question
Must have been old stock, 40k wasn't quite in that Doncaster range until 4240xl came on the scene. I stand to be corrected on thisWe had L plate one
It was on a L plate & it was a TWD and it did a good 40kph on the road on 16.9-34 rear wheelsMust have been old stock, 40k wasn't quite in that Doncaster range until 4240xl came on the scene. I stand to be corrected on this
I keep our 895 from rusting into a colander by squirting a drop of oil through the pillar vents, various plugged holes and behind the cladding in the lower doors. Can be a bit messy but I would sooner that. The rear window shut lip has some corrosion recently discovered under the window rubber. I would also check behind the plastic covers on the side pillars.Well I would like to say thank you for all the contributions to this thread,

If I remember right our 885XL was £11700 from Robert Taylor & sons back in spring ‘88.
Not a Super Two though, the old fella would not have paid extra for it if it was available, and I rather think they came a bit later on a “F” plate. 2 spools, 2 speed powershift (ta) and trailer brakes.
Don't think so either, I think our 2wd 1985 885XL was in the region of 14KI don't think it was as little as that.
Our pair the same, did nearly 40k before 40k was a thing, few locals said there had to be something wrong with them.....It was on a L plate & it was a TWD and it did a good 40kph on the road on 16.9-34 rear wheels
Ours shifted when we put 12 , 48 row crops onDon't think so either, I think our 2wd 1985 885XL was in the region of 14K

Well done, what I should have done. I thought or hoped keeping it inside was enough.I keep our 895 from rusting into a colander by squirting a drop of oil through the pillar vents, various plugged holes and behind the cladding in the lower doors. Looks like 7610’s Dad and my Dad got quite a deal on the old 885’s then!Don't think so either, I think our 2wd 1985 885XL was in the region of 14K
