Had some cull cows away at the mart this morning. You could knock me down with a feather. Averaged 1.97p/kg (£1322) for 3 12yr old limx Galloway cows. Each have raised 9 calves ( the last just taken off this morning and will be sold next week).
Good ! Long way from the £280 compensation for the burner all them years ago !! Well done .

Many years ago I also had a fat lamb die in the pen at the market before I sold it. It was a right good lamb as well, think it was just the stress that killed it.

Now that's the drag of shame!! - pulling a lamb out the market and back onto my trailer 🤦‍♂️.
The market wouldn't pay insurance either.
I could write a book!!
It’s happened once too me at Bentham and twice too a mate of mine. Each time good lambs. Mart paid the average for the dead one each time! Old ewes I think you get charged disposal though...

I once had a store limmy bull stirk a bit lively, hit the front of the entrance gate to the ring while the previous bull was sold they opened the door to reveal said bull stirk slumped kicking its last I couldnt manage the drag of shame but the mart did payout on my average.
