Main reason is most farmers pretend they want a bombproof work vehicle, but when it comes down to it they buy some tinny blingy pickup with every gimmic under the sun on it
Is leather ( or in realty plastic) a gimic though, very practical when climbing in with wet leggings on. Auto box as well, no clutch to wear and better off road. I agree though the rest is just rubbish on a pick up. But to get leather (vinyl) and auto means going for the top spec which is often unnecessary

I would not touch it with a bargepole. The same happened to people who bought McClaren sportscars. A lot of (British, in particular) business men can talk a good product but actually designing, building and maintaining one in the marketplace is a big leap.

I don't know why people don't just buy a Land Cruiser. Import one even.
As ever, they might be brilliant engineers, the product might be good or good enough or fantastic, but it's no guarantee of success, they'll be competeing with the big boys soon and they won't want them to succeed regardless of whether they've left that sector of the market.

not so much a gimic but its all unnecesary. everyone who works outdoors has seat covers on anyway, but i do wish that 4x4s came standard with the proper plastic grey vinyl of old rather than cloth. autoboxes on pickups arent reliable enough (long term) for me to buy one, they have had to make the boxes too lightweight and too complicated to get the fuel consumption down. the landcruiser auto boxes are simple and bombproof, but they do drink significantly more fuel than a manual equivalent.

Maybe just me but I hate seat covers sliding about. Don’t see why these modern “leather” seats aren’t more common. Let’s be honest they can’t be much dearer than cloth really as it’s never really seen a cow

Wha
What did you expect, the price of a Dacia Duster?
These prices include VAT, because these are not classed as commercial vehicles in the UK. Hopefully their commercial van version and pickup will not gouge their customers as blatantly as Land Rover do with the Defender commercial price relative to the consumer version.

It’s around where I expected tbh, just specced one to about 45k but a similarly specced hilux is about 40k surely although with a couple more seats.
Plus the VAT can be reclaimed on the HiLux. Not so current Grenadier. Also all the other tax relief benefits for HiLux, not so for Grenadier.
To make sense for farmers and utility companies in the UK they need official commercial vehicle versions. That means vans and pickups and chassis/cab versions not passenger carriers unless they have enough seats to qualify. Five or six or even seven seats are just consumer SUV’s as far as HMRC are concerned.

No doubt they are after the SUV owners and private individuals wanting ‘luxury vehicles’ at a premium price initially. Or prioritising geographical areas where no such tax rules apply.
