Another PTO guard thread - How do I pull this one off?

Evening

I can't for the life of me figure out how to get this one off without destroying it.

The two flat head screw things just keep turning around, no amount of levering or prying or swearing will remove it. If it's any help, it says "MADE IN ITALY" on it and if it's the original shaft/guard for the machine, it'll be about 20 years old.

Any ideas?

There was a wasp hiding in there which was exciting.

Are the screw heads not eccentric? You just turn them 90 degrees then the sheath should slide back over the top of them.

Can you turn the screws with a mole grips or similar while pulling them out at the same time? Only guessing though

Hmmmmm, yes I did notice they sort of slide over to one side when they're turned 90 degrees but I couldn't make much sense of it.

When you say sheath, you're talking about the part with the grease nipple, right?

Yes just the end over uj, it’s should slid back over the tube. I’m not familiar with that exact guard but I’m guessing once its slid back it will release the plastic collar that holds it all to the shaft.

That's the difference between knowing and guessing. I'd be looking on the replacement PTO guard thread by now

Think you need to take out Phillips head screw then rotate the collar about 90 degrees and slide it off?

That's what I'm was guessing should happen but Phil p,'s theory makes sense. Failing both,hacksaw, tyre lever and an axe then then zip tie it back together

just turn the two plastic slot-headed retainers so they line up with the holes and the whole guard will pull off the bearing

What @Phil P said. 2 little domed head spotted screws. They don't screw out, just rotate 90 to line up with the hole in the shroud

Well done everyone. I turned the eccentric screws until they lined up with the hole, then very carefully tapped them through while gently pulling on the yellow plastic guard/"sheath" until it popped off.

Pics if anyone in the future is interested

Now to get the seized yoke off the shaft. Traditional/creative methods haven't worked, so I guess I'll split the UJ in place and put a puller on it with a bit of heat.

Cut the tube off as short a you can then assemble a hacksaw through the tube. You can then cut through the tube down its length which should release it

Seized joint just remove it with a grinder
Cut through the x and tap/push the caps out

I think he means the yoke won’t come off the machine. Ratchet strap around yoke to loader or shed post and give the yoke some hammer to try and release the bond.

Ah yes I miss read it.
I'll take a stab in dark it's a round shaft and key rather than 6 spline. Going to take some shifting

I've hammered it, heated it, pulled it & it hasn't shifted yet. No worries, it'll come away eventually.

Can you soak it in Coca Cola? Have read that’s good for shifting stuck rusty bits.
