What happened to the rest of it?

This ain’t America ….

3m x 4 leg = £27,000 c/w slurry legs
6m x 8 leg = £57,000. “ “

Won’t know/won’t buy until we’ve seen the effect of strip till v plough/power harrow hence the ploughed bit in background
Potentially it does away with subsoiling, ploughing and PH and was using 20 litres/hr @ 8kmph as against 55 L/hr on the 6m PH @ 5kmph

However, it was not good in grassland although I suspect making berms to overwinter then go again in spring would be a better do

No way. For that dinky little thing? Rip off. Does kuhn bring their Krause stuff over there?

What are the white spout things for? Looks like it is missing 4 pots for maize seed to just drop in the ground as it goes along, no?

We tried some strip tilling to at work and put some slurry down to. Done trials into the middle of afew fields and sumoed and pH the rest. On anything but sandy/loamy soils is seems to be too dry this year to get enough tilth in 1 pass. Also did some after the sumo with slurry to see how it competes with starter fert which is £35+/acre this year!

White things are for putting down fert from a front tank.
From what I understand, drills were tried but it’s far better to allow the soil to dry for 8 hours min

I believe that that is quite reasonable for this sort of machine.
Wearing steel May be an issue as I think subsoiler winglets need changing every 10 hectares/25 acres
Just for giggles you should look up what 8 row Vertical tillage tools bring over here.

Reguarding the subsoiler points I ran one over about 3000 acres and we started with a new set then just kept welding sh!t to them to do a season. Very sandy ground there. Must have been ten years since I’ve run one now.

Well that's just great, I thought you would want to do it in one go???
The majority of my winter crops went in with a combi following the subsoiler a day or so later.
I use a Claydon mainly for spring beans, it is a bean drill first and foremost.

Drilling in to the slot ....

20220506_114854.jpg

TBF it works well on stubble with very little seed "bounced" out and a consistent depth. Proof will be how it compares with the sister crop on plough/PH adjacent

Not going to work on grass though

Too many root clods will mess with the drill press wheels and sowing depth will be all over the place.
Perhaps a pass in winter then again a week before drilling with grass burnt off may work?

I can see it working fine and could do as well as the plough power harrow drilled but where is the lathering of farmyard manure?
I drill all our game cover with a Claydon and then subsoil after which also rolls it.
Come's a treat but does not get much muck.

FYM is for peasant beef boys ...........

(We generate plenty, only not on that particular field which has had delicious cow slurry)
