2001 they were yipping about this.

2011- ten years later we were still getting a rough bumming.

2021 - still in the news.

Just because its wet and Im bored, Ive asked the Dept of Business etc how many complaints have been received from produces against retailers under the Grocery Supply Code Of Practise and how many were upheld. Id be interested to see how a producers long-term relationship with a retailer fairs after this happens!

There will be quite a few producers less when it does thought. The big will get bigger
Exactly what supermarkets want, the less involved the easier to dictate to larger market shares. The processors are over a barrel and that is passes to the end of the chain. Respect to Arla who I beleive have built a model with the capabilities to reverse this on the supermarkets under current conditions

So when should I sell forward?
once you know how much you have to sell

depends how worried you get

worriers should not look at prices to often concentrate on growing the crop

over the last year after a rise the price often drops back up to £20 worriers sell on the fall then mis out on the big increase that follows

last july a 15 drop in 2021 harvested grain from the april to july caught a lot of sellers by christmass was up £40

has the uk got a mechanism to manage/restrict wheat exports since brexit other than price

the uk does need to import high spec bread wheat and pasta wheat

eu ,usa has india has china will have
russia had
australia canada not that i know of but but their production is normally several time their domestic needs

the highest prices will be when major exporters have non left or restrict exports
many have daily reporting for export sales a export licences
