Are many people going to be seeking winterkeep sheep to eat there precious grass next winter?

Every blades going to be a prisoner with fert prices where they are.

Be better carrying heavier covers of grass over into springtime?🤷‍♂️
We only grazed the new leys this winter. Got to graze them, or they'll be too strong before the land will carry cattle. Made silage yesterday, earliest for a long while. Crop was plenty decent, but the mower was covered in rust from the grass - I think there may have been a discussion about the feed value of overwintered grass on here before.

To date I've banked more fertiliser than the sheep keep would have been, but there may be a reckoning before the season is out.

That's me just in from dosing the dry hoggs I purchased today at UA Stirling and filling up the lamb feeders I didn't have time to do before I left for Stirling.

It looks like reading the last four pages on here is the third thing I've done wrong today.
Dont worry they are all depressed tonight...carry on as you do have conviction in your own judgement and everything will be fine, too many worrying about what their mates are doing..

What breed and how much do you want for them?

I’d be interested in some Suffolk x hoggs if you had any?

There going mad for them now. 😂
Well for all the doom and gloom, I’ve been away for a couple of hours and buyers are queuing up for the hoggs 🤔👍😂🤔👍😂
On a serious note they are a mixture of home bred Tex x Chev Mule and Suff x mule. Plan is to shear this week sell the Suffolks Mid summer for early lambing and Tex x a bit later. Last year with trade as it was I couldn’t afford to keep the texels and they were sold in the fat 😉😉
The Suffolks were bought as well bred mixed strong stores with a view to spreading my chances with the ewe hoggs if the spring Hogg trade wasn’t as fast.
Time will tell if my marketing strategy is the right one

I think you should buy one of those upsidedown wok-style hats, roll up you trousers and crack on yourself. A lucrative contract with Uncle Ben awaits 👍
Uncle Ben is no more apparently, killed off as a racist stereotype harking back to slavery. I’m not sure killing a slave is any better than working one?
I think he is just a faceless Ben on the packet. I’m not sure what Uncles did to be cancelled apart from dance badly at weddings

The world is getting more ridiculous year by year
