That’s not that unreasonable of a price for the hours on it. Yes, it’s an old tractor but well proven and sought after. I don’t think those that get super worked up about them have spent much time in them though. Think ours has 13k on it. Engine and transmission never been touched.
I'd agree.
I like mine but after spending a day in a modern full suspension cvt tractor its like stepping way back in time. Tractors have came a long long way since 2003 in terms of operater comfort.

Great tractors but had to be weighted properly to get a decent ride. That all said I would still spend a week in a 10 series jd before I would waste a day in 7810 ford🙄

I find the lack of suspension keeps speed in check.! Slow and steady.

Wondered what that was going to make.

To the OP,

Your 6920s will have the same margin too if it is equally as tidy and low hours, I'd very much doubt you made a bad decision equally as good a tractor. Find a top spec JD with less than 5k hours unless its a current model and it seems to be valuable

They rarely break down, are just the right weight for their power (and vice versa) and are good for many many hours. Plus they sound awesome.

My mate will tell you different. He’s running two 7810’s, a 6920, a 8520 and a 7710. His 7810 and 7710’s have all given him quite a bit of grief over the years. All bought new and yes all done some hours but what he’s spent on repairs is quite eye opening. His 6920 almost faultless and 8520 has been ok but not brilliant. He still wouldn’t change them as he loves them sat in the shed. Interestingly he doesn’t like the R series having tried a few and has recently bought a Valtra as the main road tractor to take the heat off the 7010’s.

I think your mate has pretty much explained why they make so much-if they’re as troublesome as you say and he still wants to keep them…

Apart from strong sentimental reasons - being the first tractor I ever bought (still remember driving 4hrs in the heat of summer 98 to Sharmans with a stinking hangover!), I would have been half tempted to get my one out from the back of the shed as it only does about 30hrs a yr now with 5k on the clock.

Ah, the magic rag, and they are good to deal with; apparently.
But.
Bought in at £18900, was there buyers commission on top? Add on a bit of haulage, fix the buttons, stand up to it for a month or so, full valet, knock off a few quid to seal a deal, hardly a pathway to easy millions...
