Ukranian war finishing will wipe £100 off it , also supply and demand , no shortage of wheat now , we should have run out according to AHDB
I think you are pinning a lot of hope on fields/crops being undammaged by the war and that planting hasn't been affected (seem to remember the farming press put their planting at just 40% of normal), that transport infrastructure will be there to allow exports at previous levels. I think the war ending wont make much difference to prices till h24.

Sold some wheat and barley for Nov 23 today, £280 wheat and £258 barley.

Booked my fert and thought let's lock in some decent prices. Right or wrong I won't know till Nov 23. But in my eyes can't be far wrong for me.
I confess to selling in may '21 two loads for Nov 22. What was I thinking about.

Not missing the point at all, but it is always gambling on numbers, set by merchants and futures markets. The numbers are just bigger at the moment than usual
This is the bit I'm struggling with. Whether we sell forward, off the combine or store for weeks, months or years after? It's a gamble, exactly the same with buying raw materials forward. Can't see the issues with everyone getting get up about selling forward.

Who is Robert Kimbell?
The Express running an article quoting him ,questioning why the UK
has exported so much wheat and should we be taking the same action as India .
