Hello Everyone,

I'm making the leap and going out on my own contracting small to start with but hoping to get bigger.

Here's my dilemma Fastrac 1115 or Massey 6170

I've always been a Massey bloke but I really like the look of the 1115.

Opinions?

Wouldn’t recommend a contracting career to anyone even more so now with crippling fuel costs.

6180 or 6190 are actually a lot better. If you could skip generations and aim for a 6270 it would be better again.

MF 6170. Total crap tractor.I had one. Find a 62 series if you want a MF tractor 6280 or 6290.

Would be a much better bet in my opinion. Or a red mx equivalent which might be bought cheaper.

Do you have access to a handy independant mechanic? If so what make do they prefer working on?

so a MX135 in your opinion would be the better bet?

I imagine there coming into classic category now. So values might be rising.

I've never owned one so only going on what I've heard from others. But meant to be good tractors. T2 6480 be a good tractor we had one and liked it.

Anything 20 years old will be firmly in the classic category. These late 90’s early 00’s tractors are still very capable but also getting too expensive for what they are. It all depends on your budget.

Fastrac would drive you insane with expensive niggles.

Had a 6180 and 6190, neither were particularly good so only imagine 20+ years down the line they’d be worse.

NH 60 series weren’t without their issues if I remember, but the TM series are good. Got a 140 with nearly 12,000hrs and touch wood, it’s probably been the cheapest tractor to own we’ve had, plus it’s now an appreciating asset. Can fix most of its problems with a screwdriver, adjustable spanner and some swearing.
