thanks

If your looking for manual guidance our GFX-350 with NAV-500 would be perfect, you can even add a "roll corrected manual guidance license" which will compensate for the slopes.

Give me a shout if i can be of any further help

This has come up again. Tried one or two lightbars a few years ago but couldn't get them to work very well for various reasons.
I think one of them was terrain, going down through a dip and back up the other side seemed to set the signal way off often converging with the last tramline 20m away. Another seems to be it took ages to find the next line and often it thought you were way off track at the start of the next run when you were on the tramline and relatively close to where you should be(tramline accuracy excluded of course). Has the accuracy changed any within these cheaper units? I don't want autosteer or upgrade paths but a bit of guidance on a grass field and especially where to turn in would be useful. Perhaps a speed output to the spreader would be good if the signals stable and not going to drop out half way down the field.

That tractor-gps was around years ago and then disappeared for a while, has it changed or is it any use now? @Scoobyscotlad ?

Another one for you. Hexagon Agriculture - Ti5, Ti7 or Ti10. All can have a terrain compensation upgrade if better accuracy is needed on hills. Free NovAtel signal (or EGNOS).
I can also supply an RTK system for £4500 + vat.
Good luck with your research. Any questions, please PM me.

As a user of FJ Dynamics unit, as long as you are not wanting super rated field management, it's no choice system in my opinion for the money. Usually pretty easy to fit, and the Chinese seem to have put together a really solid bit of kit.

It has some form of slope compensation, but not relevant to flat old central Shropshire! ;)

If you are a bit techie you can save a Grand by using RTK2GO for your RTK base.

And many, many, many hours of playing setting said kit up talk to each part properly!! ;)

Which can be fun, and 10-15 years ago I was happy to do so, but now, I prefer something nearer "plug and play"!

A fair comment. Just asking where a farmer makes more money spending (quite) a few hours? AOG is not for everyone but I bet if AOG did not exist (and wasn't as popular as it is), we would not see these Chinese products with a relatively attractive price (relative to main brands).

What I would like to suss out, is the cheapest way to build/buy/setup a permanent Base station for use with NTRIP. RTK2Go maybe...

WTH the Govt don't force the Ordnance Survey to make their signal open, like happens all over Europe and the US?

A cheap way for a permanent RTK base could be Ardusimple SimpleRTK2B starter kit at about €200 and an old laptop or a 50 Euro Raspberry Pi running Stefal's base. No need for RTK2GO if a public IP is available. If not, RTK2GO would be an option.

For comparison price wise with tractor gps etc. what minimum is required to get this ap up and running as fertiliser lightbar guidance please?

I believe all you would need is a Windows laptop or tablet suitable for the tractor cabin and a GNSS receiver. I'd recommend Ardusimple SimpleRTK2B or an equivalent product. RTK capable but not really more expensive than EGNOS only. Can start with EGNOS or in pure autonomous mode. F9P on this receiver is quite capable on four constellations and dual frequency even in autonomous mode. Run free AOG on the laptop and you have manually controlled mapping plus lightbar on the laptop display plus much more.

You can fit a full RTK autosteer system for £1200-1500 with AgOpenGPS. Section control, automated headland turns etc...
Yes. 100% correct. However, myself as an ex software programmer turned to farmer, I went to John Deere SF 3000 (bit outdated) + GS2 1800 (bit outdated too) + ATU 300.

It cost me one arm and one leg and although I would have the required knowledge to install and tweak AgOpenGPS, I truly hate anything different than ATU 300 steering motor. That thing is self calibrating and it's just so good feels almost integrated.

Other than that I used Teejet Matrix 430 display for visual guidance for 5 years and although I find it a bit small and outdated to today's standard it's still so damn easy to use and provides decent accuracy for 24M spraying/fert.

That setup does not count as simple GPS to me. A bit out of the scope of the title. However, AOG can cover the full range from simple assisted steering to hydraulic valve based auto-steer running at RTK accuracy. Certainly more of an integrated system compared to any steering wheel motor (which isn't too bad as such).
